Rebecca Dufendach is a Historian of Colonial Latin America. She hosts the podcast New Work in Ethnohistory that features interviews with the authors of recent scholarship in the field.

As a Visiting Assistant Professor at Loyola University Maryland she teaches courses on Atlantic Exchanges, Modern Latin America, and Colonial Mexico.

She received her PhD in History from the University of California, Los Angeles where her dissertation focused on Nahua and Spanish concepts of illness in sixteenth-century New Spain.

Her work contributes to the research of ethnohistorians who seek to recover Indigenous perspectives of historical events by reading different types of sources, including pictorial writing systems and Indigenous-language alphabetic texts.
